Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

The ETA is for citizens from ETA-approved countries.

The electronic travel authority (ETA) is a travel visa that is electronically linked to your passport. An approved ETA is usually valid for 12 months, and allows you to visit Australia as many times as you like during the validity period.

However, you are only allowed to stay for a maximum of three months per visit.

Basic Requirements

  • must have a valid passport from an ETA approved country
  • must meet health requirements
  • must not have any criminal convictions
  • must have enough money to fund your travels and activities

It is important that you meet health and language requirements and do not have any criminal convictions.
