Business Innovation Stream Visa

If you are a successful business owner abroad and are looking to own your own business in Australia, then the Business Innovation Stream is the ideal visa for you.

The Business Innovation Stream is a temporary business visa that is valid for 4 years. If you meet certain requirements of your provisional visa after the first 2 years, then you may be able to apply for permanent residence in Australia.

Basic Requirements

  • must be under 55 years of age
  • must be able to demonstrate a successful business career
  • must have enough funds and assets to settle in Australia
  • must acquire at least 65 points on the innovation points test



You must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and a detailed business proposal with your visa application. Your previous business career must demonstrate significant turnover and a strong commitment to owning and running a business in Australia.

Once your Business Innovation Stream Visa has been granted, you are able to own (or partially own) a business in Australia. Any family members that you included in your application (such as a partner and/or dependent children) are permitted to live, work and study in Australia.

When applying for permanent residence, you may require sponsorship from State or Territory Government.
